Yes, due to the completely new OS install.

No, since /home/was/sage has all optional packages installed.  However,
I also keep /home/was/sage-bdist pretty current, and you could just do
    cp -arv /home/sage/sage-bdist where_you_want_your_sage
and you're good to go.
