Probably in some cases several people will work on the same bug at once.
We just had a big "porting SAGEf to solaris" sprint and for most
of it Michael Abshoff, Didier Deshommes, and I were all working on
the same problems at once until somebody had an idea.   Once we had
a hack to get things going, somebody would go off and "do it right", and
then later we would all test that solution (and see if it really worked, which
wasn't always the case).   Perhaps we could try something like that.
It feels like playing a big video game, where you win when you resolve
all the issues; the other people in the sprint are all on your team.
