Hello, at http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/mabshoff/atlas-3.7.37.spkg you can find an ATLAS SPKG. Right now it only builds dynamic and static versions of ATLAS. It takes about 15-20 minutes on a decent Athlon 64. It has been tested by William and me, so if you feel lucky give it a try. We plan to recompile the numerical packages conditinally and link against that version of ATLAS if you install some ATLAS SPKG in the future. If you want to build it on MacOSX you need a g77 or f77 compiler until further notice. William did implement/suggest a solution to use g95 or gfortran for that, but it hasn't been fixed yet. The ATLAS has been tested om Solaris and works there.
