Hello folks,

last time we got somewhat surprised by the gcc 4.2 release and we only
got all components to work with gcc 4.2 once 4.2.1 had been released.
So this time we should work pro actively to fix problems and push them
upstream for the individual packages. I didn't get too far, but I have
found
and (hopefully) fixes two problems with gmp's header and givaro. I
have opened two tickets (#490 & #491) and described fixes. They are
tagged for 3.0 because gcc 4.3.0 isn't even at stage 3 yet, so we will
have at least two month until it is released and even logger before
distributions pick it up. With the release frequency of Sage I am not
too concerned that we will not make that deadline.

I am contacting the gmp people about the gmp problem and I hope the
Clement will pick up the fix for givaro. The described workaround
might not be optimal and the include should be conditional upon gcc's
version higher than 4.2.

Cheers,

Michael
