Instead could you do the following:

 (1) Go to 
https://secure.gifts.washington.edu/as_mathematics/gift.asp?source_typ=2&source=EAV

(This is linked to from http://www.math.washington.edu/Development/giving.php
at the UW math dept page.)

(2) Click on "Friends of Mathematics Fund", then click "Continue" (which
is above the check boxes).

(3) Fill out the form, and in the comments box write that 'the donation is for
    "The SAGE Foundation"'

You should receive a receipt after you submit the form.

If you have any trouble, let me know.  If you succeed, you will have the
distinction of being the first ever donor to the Sage Foundation!

In case you're curious -- once I've received > $1000 in donations
the university will setup a separate discretionary account specifically for
Sage.  The money will be used to support Sage development.  All
donations are tax deductible, etc.
