I just submitted trac #1233 which reports how the wrapping of mwrank for elliptic curve rank calculations causes errors for non-minimal curves.
The diagnosis is that even though mwrank is perfect ;) it would be much easier to fix this from within mwrank than from within Sage, so I assigned it to myself.
