Dear all,

I'm writing to both sage-devel and sage-combinat-devel to make sure that this
discussion goes as fast as possible (try IRC !!!). Can someone ensure to
forward e-mail from one mailing list to the other if needed ?

I'm writing from my train to Rouen hoping to be able to plug my laptop this
morning so that this e-mail is actually sent to the net. Unfortunately, I'll
be reviewing student projects with them the whole days, so that except maybe
during lunch I'll not be able to connect. Anyway, I'm not sure I've anything
to say aside this mail.

The issues is that the patch from the ticket #4549 is on it's way to be
postponed to sage 3.4.1 because of a pickling problem. That's not a critical
problem but it's always better to close things as soon as possible. I though
that Nicolas had already fixed this problem but it seems I was wrong. Here are
somme questions to push things forward:

 - Nicolas / Mike Hansen: you are the expert. What are the chances that this
problem can be fixed before 3.3 ? before 3.4.1 ? Can it actually be fixed or
is it an unsolvable issue ?

 - I had an extremely short chat with Michael this morning. As far as I
understood from the few sentences we exchanged, we can decide to accept broken
pickle in combinat, but to keep things manageable, it has to be a global
policy on combinat stuff, not a case by case raising issues for all trac
tickets. So the question is should we accept broken pickle ? Can someone
describe the possible not obvious consequences ? Does it break the interaction
with the notebook for example ?

Heeeer !!! Hum !!! Sorry ;-) ... Please answer and comment those questions.

Here is my humble opinion (I've very little expertise on this subject): I
thinks we should not take the decision to accept unpickable objects, except
for very strong reasons. So In the present case, I'd rather trying all
possible solutions before accepting unpickable objects. That not a big problem
if this means missing one or two release for the patch.

Cheers,

Florent
