If you don't want to wait for the update: You can ask for evaluation explicitly, e.g., like this: sage: f(x)=sin(x) sage: f(1.57) sin(1.570000000000000) sage: RR(f(1.57)) 0.999999682931835 I could imagine that some people would think this is a feature and not a bug...
