Seems that it comes from line:
sage: detex(r'More math: `x \mapsto y`. {\bf Bold face}.')
from sage/sagedoc.py:140, the "\b" from "\bf" converts to unknown
character. I don't have time for more now, but in few hours I can take
a closer look if no one will fix it meanwhile
