Working in a research team made mostly of engineers, this is my experience too. Virtually all of my engineer colleagues have used and use regularly MATLAB (although I think none of them ever used seriously its symbolic computation capabilities). The killer features seem to be the ease of programming (e.g., quick prototyping capabilities and "easy" syntax for matrix/vector manipulation), the "batteries included" IDE/RAD environment, and the wealth of readily available packages for many different uses. None of them ever used Mathematica. Cheers, Francesco. -- To post to this group, send an email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [email protected] For more options, visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/sage-devel URL: http://www.sagemath.org
