I've updated the sever at http://t2nb.math.washington.edu:8000/ to the latest
alpha. I know there's a rc0 now, but I've not built that. I used Minh's binary,
but had to add the gcc and gfortran libraries. As I've pointed out before,
Solaris does not ship with a recent gcc, so the libraries will not exist. So in
the zone 't2nb', where I have purposely kept the zone as sparten as possible,
the binary would not run.
What is odd, is that I've had some difficulty reaching
http://t2nb.math.washington.edu:8000/
today. The IP lookup lookup has failed more than once from here, so I used the
IP address (128.208.128.196) to connect. I've no idea why that should be. The
browser just hung at "looking up http://t2nb.math.washington.edu". Then running
'nslookup', it was also unable to resolve the IP address. At the minute it is
working.
I'm giving a talk at the London OpenSolaris Usergroup (LOSUG) today at 1800 GMT.
If anyone has any *decent* examples they want to upload as published documents,
it would be helpful. I uploaded one of Williams, as it looked quite impressive.

I think we really need to have some way of having a set of good quality
"published documents on Sage servers". Perhaps ship them as part of the Sage
distro, that anyone can see on any Sage server. A bunch of error messages, and
other junk on the servers does not inspire confidence. As I've remarked before,
"published" is normally associated with high quality, yet the published
documents on the servers are often tests, and displays of error messages.
Twenty or thirty nice examples, covering a range of topics accessible to those
without maths degrees would be useful. Perhaps we should have two sets of
published documents available on the front end.
1) "Published examples of good Sage usage"
2) "Published examples by anyone (quality varies from junk/errors to excellent)"
But any others that someone wants to upload would be nice. Ideally some a
non-mathmatician can understand. 99% of us don't have a clue about rings, and
some other exotic stuff that only mathematicians know about. We really need some
examples of things that are useful to people without maths degrees. I think this
issue was bought up about the engineering examples the other day - chicken and
egg situation.
Wolfram Research manage it with Mathematica - some of their examples are
understandable by a 10 year old. There is no need to

I'll make the presentation available later. I'll probably revise it a bit in the
next few hours on the train! It's aimed at Solaris users, not mathmaticians, so
will be a bit different from most presentations I expect.
