I already posted on the ticket that I'm against the current patch at 9704.

I hate changing top-level functions in Sage willy-nilly with no major
benefit.  I want Sage to be stable.  There is no way that changing
"trace" to "trace_execution" (or the worse and wrong "backtrace",
which makes no sense) results in major benefit.
