I tried it. I had to download a ~270 MB pkg file (the browser plugin) and install it (typing my superuser password in during the process!). Then instead of the nice little demonstration, it just claimed that it had installed incorrectly. I rebooted several times and installed it once more. I tried it in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. Finally I gave up.
The plugin also installed a standalone Mathematica CDF Player, and I can download demonstrations and use that to open them, and then they seem to work fine.
Note that I have Mathematica 7, which isn't too terribly old. However, the demonstrations that were working just several months ago in it I can't download and use now since they require Mathematica 8.
