Basically any kind of data acquisition from human subjects requires IRB 
approval. If you want to ask people what kind of shampoo they use you need 
approval. This is not a joke. It is irrelevant that you think that the 
participants could be not be harmed by it (but it usually makes it easier to 
get approval). 

Really, I want to point this out for Anthony's benefit. He might be unable 
to use the data for academic purposes if he does not follow proper 
procedure.
