Is 1G memory enough to build Sage? I've just tried it on virtualbox on a
1G host and only this failed, but after running ./sage -docbuild
reference html --mathjax it passed.

The ARM box I build sage on has 512M of RAM and a 1G swap space. I shut X down and compile from console. I think this high proportion of swap in total memory is one of the reasons for the very slow compilation.

If you could serialize the builds in the various virtual machines, and hence give them more ram, that would perhaps be faster.

Snark on #sagemath
