However, I wonder if Sage would have gotten as much traction if OS X didn't 
have nearly the same POSIX stuff as the various Linuces around.  Whether 
you like Apple or not, there are a LOT of Apple users in the mathematics 
world - not necessarily because of the POSIX, though perhaps it helps.
