We won't throw the first stone; it took us more than this to finalize
the book!

Aiming at chapter-by-chapter thematic tutorials could be a good
approach to make this less daunting. Each time a chapter would be
translated by someone, there would be an immediate reward in having it
generally available and useful.
To get the ball rolling; here is a quick translation of the current
table of contents. Is there a specific chapter you and others would be
willing to translate?
Part I Introduction to Sage
- First steps
- Analysis and Algebra (aka calculus)
- Programming and data structures
- Graphics
- Computation domains: parents, elements, ...
Part II Algebra and Symbolic Computation
- Finite fields and Number theory
- Polynomials
- Linear algebra
- Polynomial systems
- Differential equations, recurrence relations
Part III Numerics
- Floating point numbers
- Non linear equations
- Numerical linear algebra
- Numerical integration
Part IV Combinatorics
- Enumerative combinatorics (translated by Hugh Thomas; see
sage.combinat.tutorial?)
- Graph theory (mostly done by Nathann?)
- Linear programming (mostly done by Nathann?)
Obviously missing in this table of content are: "probabilities and
statistics" and "group theory" ... we did not find authors for those.
