Ahaahhahah ! You are totally right ! I had totally forgotten things like 
'_', which I never use but returns the previous result:-)

sage: def test():
....:     d = graphs.CompleteGraph(1000)
....:     return 1
....: 
sage: get_memory_usage()
1176.9765625
sage: [test() for x in range(10)]                                  
[1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1]
sage: get_memory_usage()         
1174.16796875
