Hm, just to be explicit about it, because it's something I didn't initially 
think about: if one pickles hashes based on string representations of 
objects then those pickles could lead to erroneous result when loaded into 
a sage version that has changed the string representation.

So indeed, making a hash value part of a pickle would not be very 
future-proof.
