I don't mean to spread FUD, but ... in my extensive experience with
chromebooks, developer mode is something to be avoided, unless you are
the only person with physical access to the computer, and you're very
careful.    The problem is that whenever you turn on the laptop it
will display a big white screen with an inviting "press return" (or
something) message.  If the person who sees that screen actually does
so, instead of waiting 30 seconds or hitting control-d (?), then your
entire developer mode install is completely wiped (!).  And I couldn't
figure out how to password protect things to stop that (maybe it's
possible -- I don't know).  It's really a *developer mode* -- not
something to be recommended for anything except ChromeOS development.

I have at least twice had completely innocent people inadvertently
wipe my developer mode'd laptops...  My chromebooks are now all just
stock, and I use Sage this way:
