As far as I can see I haven't changed the import order -- for the code see trac 17303 <http://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/17303> (I was initially using lazy imports but I switched when I had problems and haven't switched back yet...). I spent the weekend struggling to compile 6.4.rc1, only succeeding after I had set SAGE_PORT. Sadly I have the same problem. I am sure that I am doing something stupid, such as Volker is suggesting, but I can't any difference between what I have done this time and what I usually do...
