David: there is in SAGE_ROOT/build/pkgs/conway_polynomials/ a file
named 'dependencies', whose first line should be:
| $(SAGERUNTIME)
Could you replace it with
$(INST)/$(PEXPECT) | $(SAGERUNTIME)
And tell us if running 'make' works better then?
