I think you  are trying to upgrade a binary installation, that was moreover 
not very carefully done, 
judging by 
"-I/Users/buildslave-sage/slave/sage_git/build/local/include/freetype2" 
path in your log.

Indeed, as already mentioned, this seems to be the same issue as in 
http://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/18816
