Do you? A certificate authority makes money from selling certificates. They use a lot of energy in forcing browser developers to trust their services... It the same story why there is still a lot of salt, sugar and fat in all the prepared food that you buy in supermarket (this is very bad for the health but "tasty" for cheap, hence attracting for the food industry).
