This fixes further issues related to soname versioning and ldconfig reported by Andreas Enge and tries to make the process more robust. Sorry for the quick succession patch releases. But it's better to try to get it working properly. Many systems do their own (inexplicable) things with relation to this issue, and it's been hard to find anything standard.
