That's interesting.  I also hit that same problem with a
user-requested packaged called "bayespy", which is on pypi, but only
supports python 3 now.   Maybe 2016 will finally be the year of Python
3 (after almost 10 years of waiting -- I remember seeing Guido give a
talk about python 3 in 2006 or 2007 at the scipy conference).
