Hello,
I was not able to use gcc with sage-7.1 installed from the ppa. I
constantly got
$ sage -sh
(sage-sh) $ gcc
gcc: error: /usr/lib/sagemath//local/lib/gcc/: Is a directory
error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1
In particular, it makes unusable the usage of Cython.
