Good point, I'm calling it M46 because its the largest one and 46 are  known. 
 
 
However, GIMPS classifies this number as M45 because it was discovered  
before what they call M46 which is only some 11*10^6 digits long.  For  them, 
the 
order of discovery matters as they award monetary prizes for the first  to find 
a Mersenne Prime over a certain length.  For instance, their M45  was the 
first over 10*10^6 digits long and won $10^5.
