Hello!
My name is Andrei Shirshov. I'm from Noginsk (not far from Moscow, the
capital of Russia). My e-mail is [email protected] You also can write
me on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/andrei.shirshov) or on VK social
network (vk.com/andre_win).
Moscow timezone is UTC+4.
I'm postgraduate student at Moscow State University named after Bauman.
I'm fan of Sage. I've been working at Sage for about 2 years. I learned
Python and Sage informally.

About my motivation. I want as many Russian people as possible to know
about Sage and also use it. This history began from my idea to make Sage
the standard of computation between students in my university department
''Metalworking Machines''. Now my dream is to make Sage the standard of
technical computations between Russian engineers, technical scientists and
students. At this case there will be new technical society that can
accumulate technical knowledge in form of Sage programs, functions and
libraries.

It's not only my dream. Now I study Sage to my students. Also I created
wiki on www.wikisage.ru where I accumulate my knowledge about Sage. I know
there is a few information about Sage in Russian, but this information
isn't very easy for beginners and sometimes it's bored. I plan my wiki will
contain formulas, videos (screencasts), images and schemes and maybe
sagecells too. I want wikisage will became information center of Sage for
Russians.

I created informational system consisting of Sage and T-Flex Cad. T-Flex
Cad is a parametric cad. I know there is engineering problem that often
technical computations aren't linked with technical drawings and 3d models.
When computations are changes engineers sometimes forgot to make changes in
drawings and 3d models. But now using my idea anybody can compute
something in Sage, save result in csv or txt file and T-Flex Cad can read
data from text files and linked it with variables of drawing and 3d model.
If txt or csv file is updated T-Flex update variables, drawings and 3d
models automatically. As result if computation is updated, drawings and 3d
models will be updated automatically. I presented my idea on shipbuilding
conference on Metallbuilding exhibition named Stankostroenie 2013 on
October 16 (Krokus Expo, Moscow). Then my department head Utenkov Vladimir
told me visitors discussed mainly my speech. Somebody even suggested to
deploy Sage in Bauman University! Visitors are Bauman leaders, directors
and capacities of shipbuilding industry too. You can see my Prezi
presentation on
http://prezi.com/iubc1r_1gbnf/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy Sorry
this presentation is on Russian only.

T-Flex Cad developer firm is Top System located in Moscow not far from my
university. I used to take part on many contests of Top Systems and now I
keep in touch with this firm. My information system (Sage + T-Flex Cad) got
me 1st place in expert contest (not student one)! I have agreement of
TopSystem to take part at its conference at the end of May. So I plan to
tell to leaders of technical firms how Sage can help them to automate their
computation. Also I want to suggest them to help me to create society
including engineers and technical students. Students can help firms making
technical computations and leaders can see which students are talent.

I also have agreement to take part at international exhibition
Metallworking 2014 (It will be at the end of May in Moscow too). During the
whole week I can tell anybody how sage and t-flex cad can automate
engineering work. Some people help me to create article about sage to "CAD
and graphic" journal. I also plan to write another article to habrahabr.ru
soon. It's blog site for IT specialists and there are many people who like
Python.

My main operation system is Linux Mint Cinnamon (at home). I use it for 2
years. I like Linux very much! For T-Flex Cad I use Windows 7 in
virtualbox. I take part at GSoC for first time. I code app based on Sage
for my dissertation (Estimation of metallcutting machine precision at the
design stage). I use local version of Sage and Sagemathcloud as well.

My suggestion for GSoC. As I study my students I know what things aren't
enough for them. First of all there isn't enough Russian documentation and
lessons on Russian. So part 1 of my suggestion is to fill wikisage.ru. I
plan to fill main part of my wiki to the end of May when I became populate
Sage on exhibition and conference. I have a few lessons for my student on
Sagemathcloud. I can share them for you. Part 2 is to write converter from
sagemathcloud worksheet to dokuwiki page. Now I write wiki and evaluate
examples separately. If converter will be done I or anybody can write
documentation in Sagemathcloud only and converter convert information to
Dokuwiki pages automatically.
Now my student don't like when Sage returns error messages because these
messages are on English. Also it's comfortless for some of my students that
Sage interface is on English only. Part 3 of my suggestion is to translate
Sage interface and error messages to Russian and add button or list to
choose interface language.

It's seems to me my suggestion means pretty big work. A friend of mine is
ready to help me. He is my student. He know Sage very well and PHP,
JavaScript, HTML and CSS as well. As for Linux he knows it even better than
I do. Can I and my friend make work I suggested? Or is it better I need to
do it myself? Also please write me if you like my idea. Is my idea good to
take part at GSoC?
If my idea is good I'm ready to create detailed timetable and risk
management during one week.

Best regards,
Andrei Shirshov.
