Before applying for GSoC with Sagemath, you should start
getting familiar with Sagemath (how to install and use it, code
some basic algorithms, etc.) and with the developer guide

(what’s the coding standard, how to use git and trac, etc.). Then,
you can start contributing Sagemath with smalls patches (implementation
of a new algorithm or improvement of an existing one).

Hello everyone,

I am a third year PhD Math student at the University of Alberta. My
research interests are related to the representation theory of lie algebra
and vertex operator algebras, and modular forms. I am fairly experienced in
Mathematica, but quite new to SAGE. I am well-versed in Python and some of
its packages including sympy, numpy, pandas. I hope to contribute to SAGE
and give back to the open source community.

Based on my background, I'd like to contribute to the lie algebras or
modular forms modules. A possible project could be to implent operator
product expansions (OPEs) or lambda brackets of composite operators. I am
also interested in symbolic calculus, and am curious if there are ways to
contribute to this module.

I'd be happy to listen to all ideas and suggestions, and ways I can
contribute to SAGE.
