Hello SageMath Team,

I'm Bilge Arıkca, a first-year math student at Middle East Technical
University (METU).

I have been using SageMath for a while now. To be honest, I started using
it because I was contributing to our university's rover project and wanted
something more open and flexible than MATLAB. I really love the concept of
SageMath being an open-source coding and research project. Doing research
and using it in my daily projects really lights me up, and SageMath is a
concrete project based on exactly that.

When I saw you are also a part of GSoC, I said to myself: "that's a great
chance my girl". I also like to code projects based on my research or what
I am learning in classes. I am not a fancy, most skilled coder, but
recently I coded a Chinese Remainder Algorithm and a basic RSA
implementation using Python. (I also use C++ too, but with math it's
sometimes a disaster) I’m really into Number Theory, Cryptography, and
Linear Algebra; however, I still don't have a specific interest as I am
still in a discovery phase.

I would love to contribute to SageMath this summer and be a part of the
community. I’d really like to start helping out with the actual code, so if
there are any beginner issues or specific labels on GitHub you'd recommend
for a first-timer, I would be really glad if you let me know.

Best,

Bilge
