Hello,

I am working on the PARI-2.7 upgrade ticket (#15767) and one remaining issue is that PARI is no longer able to compute the Weierstass P function (as Laurent series) over finite fields.

However, I am wondering whether there really are any applications for this, i.e. would it be a big loss if the PARI in Sage simply wouldn't be able to compute the Weierstrass P function in positive characteristic?

In any case, there is a different algorithm in Sage which would still work if the characteristic is at least prec+5, where prec is the series precision.

Jeroen.
