So you're not running "make distclean" at all?

Did you verify that you're really on origin/develop, without any other commits or uncommited changes?

The next time that you try this, can you please keep the complete output of what each of these "make" commands produces, together with the output of "ls -l . local" from $SAGE_ROOT and the contents of config.log and the output of "git status" and "git log|head".
