I confirm this is a dependency IF you have giac installed on a Debian system.
giac/src/debian/README.debian:Build-Depends: debhelper, libgmp-dev, libreadline-dev, libgsl0-dev, libpng12-dev, libjpeg-dev, libpari-dev, libntl-dev, libmpfr-dev, liblapack-dev, libfltk1.3-dev, libgl1-mesa-dev, libxft-dev, libx11-dev, libxt-dev, libao-dev, libmpfi-dev, texlive, texlive-math-extra, texlive-pstricks Why it was not picked up when you installed giac, and why it is needed only later when Pynac is installed is still unclear.
