On a ubunti machine where I had 7.5 installed I did a simple "make" after "git pull origin master" where origin = trac and it failed to build cython saying "Unable to find pgen, not compiling formal grammar."
I can attach a log if wanted. I often make a release based on the one two releases previous since that is how I manage system-wide installs: I have two independent build directories so that I can upgrade one without breaking the currently installed one -- these are multi-user machines. Usually "make" by itself is enough.
