The browser is Firefox 63.0 running on Ubuntu 18.04.

As I said previously, setting the environment variable LANG to en_US.UTF-8 
before running sage -n jupyter solves the problem. The question is then: 
can Jupyter (not the browser, nor the locales) be customized so that it 
uses an English interface? (I did not find anything in the Jupyter menus).
