I installed texinfo, forgot to rerun ./configure, reran make, stuck at the same place, remebered to rerun ./configure, and am continuing the build. Luckily this machine has 72 cores and since I only just did the system upgrade, no-one else is using it! I don't always install all the packages suggested by ./configure since sometimes I have more recent versions than are in ubuntu. But that is not relevant for texinfo (it can be for pari, flint, ntl, and of course eclib).
