This is due to homebrew. /opt/homebrew/bin/autom4te is a link to ../Cellar/autoconf/2.72/bin/autom4te, and autoconf was already with the good version.
After brew upgrade, I get MAC-xxxxx:sage dcoudert$ grep perl /opt/homebrew/bin/autom4te #!/usr/bin/perl5.30 After brew reinstall autoconf, I get MAC-xxxxx:sage dcoudert$ grep perl /opt/homebrew/bin/autom4te #!/usr/bin/perl5.34 Now ./bootstrap is working.
