Hi All, I'm new to sage. I'm very impressed and a bit overwhelmed at the capabilities in sage. I noticed a discrepancy today that I can't reconcile in the response of bessel functions. I get different values depending on how I invoke it. For example, the bessel J functions don't have zeros! I have sample output below. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or if there is a known bug or patch?
thanks pari(2).besselj(3) # # 0.48609126058589108 # # bessel_J(2,3) # # 0.12894324947440206 # # bessel_J(2,3,'maxima') # # 0.48609126058589119 # # bessel_J(2,3,'pari',80) # # 0.12894324947440205109879323 # # (0.486...) is the right value. So what is Sage calculating with the default interface and the 'pari' argument? -john Oh, I'm using pari-2.3.1 on linux RH9. btw, the web notebook interface is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For more options, visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/sage-support URLs: http://sage.math.washington.edu/sage/ and http://sage.scipy.org/sage/ -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
