If you put these files in SAGE_ROOT/local/lib/ then things should work. I'll fix the binary to include them (I thought I had, but just realized that I was waiting for feedback on whether this worked): http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/was/tmp/libintl/ Obviously in the long run the solution is to either force maxima to not build against libintl, to include libintl in SAGE (strangely I can't seem to find a web page about libintl or its source code anywhere!), or to remove libintl from my binary build machine.
