Hello David,
from the "part 1" statement I figured out you upgraded from 2.8. There
was a bug in 2.8.2pre3 with the gnucryptolib.spkg, so just do a
./sage -f spkg/standard/gnucryptolib-20070821.spkg
and the problem should go away. The new spkg is in the 2.8.2 tarball,
but a "sage -upgrade" should get you all the latest spkgs.
