could you send me/us an example to reproduce this? I don't really buy 
mabshoff's remark about quadratic runtime of the pexpect interface here 
because the input and output are very very little. Btw. mabshoff why is it 
quadratic anyway?

Also, getting this functionality into libSINGULAR is a bit tricky because you 
use Singular libraries (stuff you load via "LIB"). These are written in 
Singular language and thus we have to use Singular's parser. While I have 
experimental support for the Singular parser it doesn't terminate after a 
command execution but waits for more input.
