The tarball seems to be the culprit.  I can't see how this will work  
(from "tar tvzf"):

lrwxrwxrwx was/daemon        0 2007-11-21 16:30 sage-2.8.13-i386- 
Darwin/local/LIB -> lib

How was this built?  Is someone using case-sensitivity on Mac OS X?
