This looks to be the LIB/lib issue reported earlier:
$ tar xzf /SandBox/DownLoads/sage-2.9-osx10.4-intel-i386-Darwin.tar.gz
tar: sage-2.9-osx10.4-intel-i386-Darwin/local/LIB: Cannot create
symlink to `lib': File exists
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
The 'toc' looks like
lrwxrwxrwx was/daemon 0 2007-12-16 10:02:37 \
sage-2.9-osx10.4-intel-i386-Darwin/local/LIB -> lib
Bad idea on a case-insensitive file system :-}
