Sorry for the confusion, a newbie mistake with vmware. Apparrently the vmware file on the SAN was corrupted and when I ran vmware again I mistakenly loaded up a local copy of ubuntu with SAGE and there were no worksheets in that local version. Now I have to figure out how to recover the vmware image which may be a lost cause.
