Just on the implicit plotting thing (2-D, though) a colleague of mine
did some pretty good initial work trying to get it going in Python
(using matplotlib, I guess).  He's working on another unrelated
project (cplx stuff) this summer for now, but at any rate some Sage-
compatible code exists already which can handle quite a few of the
annoying cases of cusps and nodes, which he may be willing to share
and which may be useful for those who've voiced interest on this.
