Subject: sage binaries did not work
To: William Stein <[email protected]>

Hello William,

(feel free to forward this email wherever you want)

I tried to install the SAGE binary below:
sage-3.4.1-linux-Debian_GNU_Linux_5.0_lenny-sse2-x86_64-Linux.tar.gz
 430.34 MB       2009-04-25 06:20
MD5: 652074ae6ef9c960caaf9555da6b43ac

on a old Opteron running debian-amd64, but GMP kept doing illegal instructions.
This Opteron does support sse2 though.
I rebuild sage from source and it works now.
I suspect GMP was build with optimisations that are not available on this
machine.

the content of cat /proc/cpuinfo

(repeted 4 times, it is a 4 cpus box).

Cheers,
Bill.
