That said, it would be good if Sage were to do some quick checks at
startup and give more useful
error messages.  E.g., it could easily check that you're on a
64/32-bit computer that corresponds to
the binary, and if not issue a helpful error message.  Also, it could
give a warning if the operating system
doesn't match what the binary is for.
