I failed to install Sage 3.4.2 and I was hoping the last Sage 4.0 version would fix the problem. Unfortunately, the install fails again with the same error message :
cand...@candide-desktop:~/sage-4.0-linux-Ubuntu_9.04-sse2-i686-Linux $ ./sage ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | Sage Version 4.0, Release Date: 2009-05-29 | | Type notebook() for the GUI, and license() for information. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The SAGE install tree may have moved. Regenerating Python.pyo and .pyc files that hardcode the install PATH (please wait at most a few minutes)... Does this mean that Sage will never work on my computer ? Here what the cat /proc/cpuinfo commandline outputs : processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 15 model : 1 model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.60GHz stepping : 2 cpu MHz : 1595.343 cache size : 256 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 2 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm up pebs bts sync_rdtsc bogomips : 3194.70 clflush size : 64 I was wondering if I'll be more lucky compiling the sources or with the Windows binaries.
