Maybe the changes in the latest version of Sage are likely to have
fixed this problem.

Your options:

 (1) If you have sage>=4.1.2, just install the new sagenb spkg only
into your old copy of sage:
      sage -f sagenb-0.4

 (2) install from source.

 (3) install the posted binary, then type the following in SAGE_ROOT

  rm spkg/installed/mpir* spkg/installed/atlas*; make
